Savitar has provided consulting services to business and non-profit clients, either directly or in conjunction with other firms, since 1996.

Our People

Bill Gage is a senior business practices and information management professional with strong capabilities in operations and financial management. Mr. Gage has over twenty-five years of business systems and high level consulting experience, largely in transportation, consumer goods and technology.

Mr. Gage has previously held senior IT management positions from 1984 to 1995 with Matson Navigation Company, a major west coast ocean shipping company, and with Castle & Cooke (now the Dole Food Company). Prior consulting experience included nine years with KPMG Peat Marwick, where he managed and performed a variety of consulting engagements.

He is particularly skilled in bridging business needs with systems solutions by understanding strategic objectives and existing environments, and in developing operations and financial management systems and processes.

Mr. Gage’s project accomplishments include:

• Performed in a lead role on several projects for a major biotechnology company. Most significant was the requirements evaluation, direction setting and implementation of an internet eBusiness initiative supporting local personalized content and international eCommerce capabilities.

• Directed a series of projects for a non-profit organization managing life care services and facilities for seniors. Following a strategic systems plan developed by BACG, application systems were selected and implemented to support finance, billing, marketing and clinical activities. Also provided assistance in strengthening internal IT resources.

• Managed the development, implementation and on-going support of an ocean container terminal management system, supporting all aspects of terminal operations. System support functions incorporated advanced technologies, such as electronic container identi- fication and radio data terminals, while working effectively in a union labor environment.

• Managed the development of an automated finished goods distribution system for a large international consumer products business. Was specifically responsible for managing the definition of business requirements and the selection of software for integrating order entry, inventory, shipping and billing activities.

Mr. Gage served three years as an officer in U. S. Army Aviation (Helicopter) including a year in Vietnam.

He has a BA from Pomona College and an MBA in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley.

He is active in the community, having served as Director and Treasurer of school organizations in San Rafael from elementary school through high school. He has also served as Treasurer and Director of The San Francisco Yacht Club and in key roles at the Richmond Yacht Club.
